Our Team

Catherine Friend White
President and Senior Portfolio Manager 

Ms. White is the President of FinArc, LLC which she founded in 1990. She manages portfolios and chairs the investment committee. Ms. White was formerly employed by International Heritage as a Portfolio Manager/Analyst of the Growth and Income Portfolio, an open-end mutual fund. As limited partner with International Heritage, she supervised trading and performance analysis. Prior to that Ms. White worked for Hellman, Jordan Management Company, and the Pioneer Group, Inc. She began working in the investment industry in 1980.

Ms. White received her MBA with a concentration in finance from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College and her BA from Dickinson College. She has received multiple Certificates of Achievement from CFA Institute for continuing professional accreditation.

Ms. White is a member of CFA Institute, The Boston Security Analysts Society, The Commonwealth Institute, and The Boston Club. She is Chair of the Stephen D. Cutler Center and serves on the Graduate Board of Executive Advisors, both at Babson College. She previously served on the board of directors of BostonFed Bancorp, Inc. and its two subsidiary banks, Boston Federal Savings Bank and Broadway National Bank. Ms. White has appeared on CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, and other television and radio shows and in print media, including the Wall Street Journal, Forbes Magazine, The Journal of Investing, and others. Matthew C. Slaney, CFA
Principal & Portfolio Manager

Mr. Slaney manages client portfolios and analyzes equities in the technology, healthcare, telecommunications, and financial services sectors. He is also responsible for fixed income security analysis, managing client relations and business development. Prior to joining FinArc, Mr. Slaney was a Municipal Bond Research Associate for Colonial Management Associates. He has worked in the investment industry since 1992.

Mr. Slaney received his MBA with a concentration in finance from the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management at Boston College. He graduated magna cum laude from Northeastern University’s honors program where he majored in finance and management. Mr. Slaney holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and passed the Series 65 exam for registered investment advisers.

Liam M. Timmons
Associate Analyst

Mr. Timmons analyzes equities in the energy, utility, technology, food and beverage sectors. He also serves as FinArc’s trader. Prior to joining FinArc, Mr. Timmons was an Assistant Vice President with Deutsche Asset Management. He has worked in the investment industry since 2000.

Mr. Timmons received his MBA with a concentration in asset management from the Wallace E. Carroll School of Management at Boston College where he graduated with honors. Mr. Timmons was also selected as an inductee into Beta Gamma Sigma. He received his undergraduate degree from Boston College with a major in Political Science. Mr. Timmons holds the Series 65 license for registered investment advisors.

Paul O’Keeffe
Client Service Liaison

Mr. O’Keeffe brings extensive experience to our team in the area of client relationships and business development. He has held senior positions in the financial services industry at Wells Fargo, Deutsche Financial Services, and AT&T Capital Corporation.

Mr. O’Keeffe received his MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and his BA in Economics from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Please contact him at .


Patricia Weller
Client Service Liaison

Ms. Weller has a wide range of financial experience including positions as the Director of Investor Relations and Fund Manager of Polaroid Corporation’s pension and profit-sharing plan. Prior to that she was a senior auditor with Arthur Young & Co. Patricia is a CPA and holds a BS in Accounting from Bentley University.

She has been involved with several community organizations including serving as president of her town library friends and treasurer for her local theatre group. Please contact her at .



Advisory Board

The Advisory Board, which meets quarterly, gives FinArc access to its members' technical and industry knowledge to help us grow as a firm. The board offers guidance on how to improve the experience of our existing clients and expand our offerings to new ones.

David Potter is a successful entrepreneur and turnaround operations manager who received his Master of Business Administration degree from The Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College. He created the first corporate marketing plan for The UNUM Corporation and has served as Chief Marketing Officer and in key business development roles for several large companies.  Momentum Venture Associates, LLC, which Potter founded in 1996, advises entrepreneurs operating in a variety of different industries.

Paul Teplitz was a Senior Partner of Cambridge Research Institute where he led the financial services practice. Teplitz has written numerous articles and has given presentations on financial services and consumer product forecasting. He received his Doctor of Business Administration degree from the Harvard Business School and a Masters in Management from MIT.  Research Boston Corporation, of which Teplitz is President, has advised on marketing, strategy, and forecasting since 1986.

Richard White is a software developer with Frontier Systems Consulting. Most recently he managed mainframe and web-based software for Fidelity Brokerage. His technical career began as a programmer in 1982 and he advanced through software engineering positions at Cullinet Software and Compuware. He received a Bachelor of Arts from Dickinson College where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
